House fire in Deerfield, 11-13-17

This morning, firefighters from the Deerfield-Bannockburn department responded to a call about smoke rising from the second floor of a two-story house located at 1131 Osterman Avenue. Upon arrival, the initial responding units verified the presence of smoke and escalated the situation to an active fire response. It appears that the fire originated on the first floor but was swiftly brought under control. The firefighting effort involved several units from different departments. On-site were Deerfield-Bannockburn’s Engine 20, Squad 19, Truck 20, Battalion 20, along with additional support from Highland Park’s Battalion 33 and Truck 33. Northbrook contributed with Battalion 11, Ambulance 11, and Engine 10, while Lincolnshire-Riverwoods sent over Ambulance 52, Engine 52, and Engine 5201. Lake Forest also provided assistance with Truck 421. I captured some images during the incident. In one picture, you can see Highland Park Fire Department’s Truck 33, which played a critical role in managing the situation. Another image features various fire trucks from the Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District, showing the extensive resources mobilized for this emergency. There are also shots of firefighters actively engaged in the overhaul process post-fire, ensuring no remaining hazards exist. In addition, there are photos showcasing the teamwork and coordination among the crews, including moments when they’re removing debris or setting up ground ladders. You’ll notice Deputy Chief Ray Larson from the Deerfield-Bannockburn FPD in one of the images, consulting with other officers—a testament to their leadership during crises.
