This year, China's auto exports to Central Asian countries

According to data released by Urumqi Customs, there has been a significant increase in the number of vehicles exported from Xinjiang ports to Central Asian countries this year. From January to November, a total of 20,563 motor vehicles were shipped out through various ports in Xinjiang, with an export value reaching $507 million. This represents a 2.2-fold increase in volume and a 3.1-fold rise in value compared to the same period last year. Urumqi Customs noted that this year’s automotive exports from Xinjiang ports have shown three major trends. First, the market share has broadened. Vehicles exported from Xinjiang are mainly heading to Central Asian countries as well as Russia, Ukraine, and others. Notably, trade with the five Central Asian nations hit $420 million, marking a 2.8-fold year-on-year increase. Second, both general trade and border trade in small-scale vehicles have seen substantial growth. Third, private enterprises have taken the lead in auto exports. From January to November, private companies accounted for $347 million worth of vehicle exports. Experts suggest that the rapid growth in auto exports is driven by several factors. Neighboring countries are experiencing strong economic growth, with expanding infrastructure projects increasing demand for vehicles. Additionally, many neighboring countries are upgrading their transportation facilities. At the same time, Chinese vehicles offer a favorable price-to-performance ratio, making them highly competitive in regional markets.
