I just followed Truck Company 9 from Joliet to this massive mansion-style house fire. It was quite the scene when they arrived. Joliet really Stepped up with their initial attack—great work by the guys on the ground. They kept it tight and focused on their standard operating procedures for a working fire response.
Attached are some photos I snapped during the incident. These images capture the intensity of the situation as firefighters worked tirelessly to bring the flames under control.

Around 4:30 p.m., the Joliet Fire Department received an urgent call about a structure fire at 606 Rookery Lane. Within three minutes, the first responding units arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke billowing from the two-story single-family home, which was in the middle of renovations. Thankfully, all construction workers managed to evacuate safely before the firefighters arrived.
The Joliet firefighters quickly set up operations inside the building, using multiple hose lines to douse the flames raging on the second floor. Meanwhile, other teams focused on critical tasks like setting up water supplies, conducting searches, managing ventilation, salvaging property, performing overhauls, ensuring safety protocols, and providing logistical support. By 5:40 p.m., they had successfully brought the fire under control.
Units from Stations 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 were dispatched to assist, and fortunately, there were no reported injuries among the firefighters or civilians. Interestingly, last September, the Joliet City Council had already designated 606 Rookery Lane as a public nuisance due to previous issues at the property. This recent fire only reinforces the importance of keeping such sites monitored and maintained properly.
