Chicago 3-11 Alarm fire, 9-25-14 (more)

Chicago firefighters worked tirelessly to contain a severe warehouse fire that broke out on Thursday afternoon in the Lawndale neighborhood on the city’s west side. The blaze, classified as a 3-11 alarm, quickly escalated, prompting a large-scale response from the Chicago Fire Department (CFD). Crews were seen battling flames with high-pressure hoses and using specialized equipment, including a Snorkel unit, to reach difficult areas of the structure. The incident took place in a densely packed industrial area, raising concerns about potential spread to nearby buildings. Firefighters remained on scene for several hours, working under challenging conditions to bring the fire under control. Local residents reported thick smoke and strong odors in the area, though no injuries have been confirmed at this time. Several photos captured the intensity of the situation, showing emergency vehicles, firefighters in full gear, and the aftermath of the blaze. These images were taken by Asher Heimermann, who documented the ongoing efforts of the CFD. Among the photos, one features Father John, a chaplain from the Fire Department, offering support to responders.
