Antibacterial industry enters the standardization era

On December 25, it was learned from the Antibacterial Industry Branch of the National Health Industry Association ("Antimicrobial Association") that the International Organization for Standardization has officially issued "ISO 22196:2007 Evaluation Methods of Surface Antibacterial Properties of Plastic Products" and "ISO 20743:2007 Antimicrobial Finishing Textiles" Determination of Antibacterial Properties "Two ISO International Standards for Antibacterial. The issuance of the above-mentioned standards marks the completion of the preliminary construction of the international antibacterial standardization system and the entry into the standardization era of the antibacterial industry.
In recent years, the antibacterial industry has begun to form a new industry on a global scale. After just 8 years of development, the Chinese antibacterial industry has developed into an emerging industry with an annual output value of more than 60 billion yuan. With the rise of the antibacterial industry, many countries have established their own antibacterial standards system. However, due to different standards in various countries, product testing methods and applicable standards are also inconsistent, resulting in manufacturers at a loss, to a certain extent, affecting the international trade of antimicrobial products.
The two standards released this time are based on the Japanese "JIS Z 2801:2000 antibacterial processed products - antibacterial test and antibacterial effect" standard and "JIS L 1902:1998 antibacterial test method for textiles" standards, It took three years to complete.
According to reports, the “ISO 22196:2007 Evaluation Method for Surface Antibacterial Properties of Plastic Products” standard applies not only to plastic antimicrobial products, but also to the characterization of antibacterial properties of hard surface antimicrobial products including plastic products; and “ISO 20743:2007 The "Determination of Antibacterial Properties of Finished Textiles" standard applies not only to textiles but also to the antimicrobial characterization of loose porous materials and textiles.
China is an important participant in the ISO international standards for antimicrobials. Dr. Ji Junhui, an expert on the Chinese Antibacterial ISO Working Group, officially participated in the development of ISO international standards for antimicrobials in 2004.
