Working fire in Chicago, 12-1-19

This report comes from Chi-Town Fire Photos:

A working fire occurred on the northwest side of Chicago on Sunday morning at 2230 hours, at 12-1-19 N Narragansett. Engine Company 125 responded to a fire that had spread into the walls and attic of a 1.5-story frame house. Two attack lines were deployed during the incident. Truck 53 and Squad 2 made several roof cuts to ventilate the structure. It looked like a very labor-intensive operation with crews working hard to bring the fire under control.

Engine 125 is still using a spare engine since their original unit was damaged in a crash several months ago. According to recent updates, they are expected to get their regular E-One engine back in the coming week or so, which will be a relief for the crew and the district.

As always, these photos give a real sense of what firefighters go through on the job. The effort and coordination needed in such fires are truly commendable. It’s also good to see that Engine 125 is getting closer to returning to full strength, which will help maintain the level of service the community relies on.
