The largest "coal oil" project -- Shenhua Group's coal direct liquefaction project is in full swing

On August 25, 2004, the largest coal-to-oil project in the world, the Shenhua Group's coal direct liquefaction project, was started in Erdos, Inner Mongolia. This "coal-to-oil" industrialized unit that directly liquefies coal is the first construction in the world. After the project is completed and put into production, it will become the world's first commercial demonstration unit for the direct liquefaction of coal.
The total construction scale of the project is to produce 5 million tons of oil products per year, which will be constructed in two phases. A total investment of 24.5 billion yuan in the first phase, annual coal consumption of 9.7 million tons, production of 3.2 million tons of various oil products, including 500,000 tons of gasoline, 2.15 million tons of diesel, 310,000 tons of liquefied gas, benzene, mixed xylene and 240,000 tons . The first production line will be completed in July 2007 and the second production line will be built around 2010.
At present, the coal-to-oil plant under construction in the United States using coal indirect liquefaction technology produces 5,000 barrels of oil per day. The construction scale of Shenhua Project is to produce nearly 10,000 barrels of oil per day. Therefore, this project is currently the largest coal-to-oil demonstration plant in the world.
At present, under the condition of rising global oil prices, the project is in full swing.
