Tenth National Drying Conference Held in Nanjing

The 10th National Drying Conference, the most prestigious academic event in China's drying industry, was successfully held in Nanjing from September 21 to 24, 2005. Organized by the Drying Technology Professional Group under the Chemical Engineering Committee of the Chinese Chemical Industry Association, the conference brought together over 160 participants, including domestic and international experts, scholars, and representatives from major drying equipment companies. This year marked a special milestone as it coincided with the 30th anniversary of the National Drying Conference, making it a significant moment for the industry. The theme of the conference, "Exchange, Collaboration, Innovation, and Promote the Development of China’s Drying Industry," emphasized the importance of knowledge sharing and technological advancement. Held biennially, the event has grown into a major platform for professionals to discuss innovations, challenges, and future directions in the field. Qu Yixin, Secretary General of the Chemical Engineering Committee of the China Chemical Industry Association, presided over the opening session. He praised the conference's role in advancing the drying industry and presented the Drying Technology Professional Group with a medal titled “Successful Achievements Will Make You a Brilliant Future.” Professor Wang Xizhong, Honorary Chairman of the Drying Technology Professional Group, delivered a keynote speech titled “An Overview of the Development of Drying Technology in China Over the Past 30 Years.” He highlighted the remarkable progress made in the industry, the contributions of previous conferences, and the wide-ranging applications of drying technology across sectors such as chemicals, food, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals. He also stressed the importance of this industry, noting its market value of approximately 2.5 billion yuan and its critical role in modern industrial development. Experts and scholars from universities and research institutions called for a transformation in the domestic drying industry, emphasizing the need for large-scale, integrated drying equipment and advanced technologies. They urged companies to focus on specialization, multi-functionality, and improved technical performance to meet the evolving demands of traditional industries. This year’s conference also saw an increase in international participation, with seven English papers submitted—the highest number ever. Renowned international expert Dr. Jau Stawczyk attended and delivered an insightful academic presentation, signaling the growing global influence of the conference. Following the event, the next National Drying Conference was officially announced to be hosted by China Chemical News Agency and Shijiazhuang Gongda Chemical Equipment Co., Ltd. in Beijing in 2007. The 11th edition is expected to build on the success of the 10th, continuing to promote innovation and collaboration within the drying industry.
