The 10th National Drying Conference, the most prestigious academic event in China's drying industry, was successfully held in Nanjing from September 21 to 24, 2005. Organized by the Drying Technology Professional Group under the Chemical Engineering Committee of the Chinese Chemical Industry Association, the conference brought together over 160 participants, including experts, scholars, and representatives from domestic and international drying equipment companies. This year marked a special milestone as it celebrated the 30th anniversary of the National Drying Conference, highlighting its growing influence and significance in the field.
The theme of the conference was "Exchange, Collaboration, Innovation, and Promotion of the Development of China's Drying Industry," reflecting the commitment to advancing the sector through knowledge sharing and technological progress. The event took place at Nanjing University of Technology and featured presentations, discussions, and networking opportunities that emphasized the importance of innovation and cooperation.
Qu Yixin, Secretary-General of the Chemical Engineering Committee of the Chinese Chemical Industry Association, presided over the opening ceremony. He praised the contributions of the National Drying Conference to the development of the drying industry and presented the Drying Technology Professional Group with a medal titled “Successful Achievements Will Make You a Brilliant Future.†This recognition underscored the group’s vital role in shaping the future of the industry.
Professor Wang Xizhong, Honorary Chairman of the Drying Technology Professional Group, delivered a keynote speech titled “An Overview of the Development of Drying Technology in China Over the Past 30 Years.†He highlighted the remarkable progress made in the drying industry, tracing the evolution from the first nine conferences to the present. He noted that the drying equipment industry has a market value of approximately 2.5 billion yuan and plays a crucial role in various sectors such as chemicals, petrochemicals, agriculture, food, pharmaceuticals, and forestry. As an essential part of many industries, the drying sector deserves greater attention and investment.
Several scholars and industry experts called for a transformation in the current state of the domestic drying industry. They emphasized the need to develop large-scale, complete drying systems and to enhance the technical sophistication of existing equipment. By focusing on specialization, multi-functionality, and advanced system integration, the industry can better meet the demands of upgrading traditional industrial structures. This shift is expected to lead to stronger and more competitive drying companies.
The 10th National Drying Conference gained increasing international recognition, with seven English papers submitted—more than ever before. Renowned international expert Dr. Jau Stawczyk attended the event and delivered an insightful academic presentation, further reinforcing the conference’s global appeal.
Following the meeting, experts voted to select the organizers for the next conference. The 11th National Drying Conference will be jointly hosted by China Chemical News Agency and Shijiazhuang Gongda Chemical Equipment Co., Ltd., and is scheduled to take place in Beijing in 2007. This continued effort reflects the ongoing growth and development of the drying industry in China.
