Study on Vibration Monitoring of UHV Transformer in Zhejiang Province

In mid-March, Zhejiang Provincial Electric Power Company announced the launch of a project on on-line monitoring of vibration of 1000 kV transformer and its vibration characteristics, marking that the research on UHV power grid operation in China entered a new phase.

The reporter learned from Zhejiang Electric Power Company that since the State Grid Corporation signed the deepening cooperation agreement with Zhejiang Province in 2012, the UHV power grid Zhejiang battlefield has been started in full swing. At present, transmission from eastern Anhui to western Zhejiang, Fuzhou, Zhejiang and Ningdong Zhejiang "Two-handed cross both" UHV projects are being progressed in an orderly manner. The main purpose of this study is to master the operating conditions of UHV transformers, timely detection of UHV transformers abnormalities, faults and warnings and early warning, in order to achieve state maintenance.

Zhong Hui, deputy director of Operation and Maintenance Department of Zhejiang Electric Power Company, said that with the gradual establishment of UHV transmission lines and substations, the level and capacity of power grids will further increase, putting forward higher requirements on the safe operation and transmission reliability of grid systems. It is particularly important to make the state-of-the-art maintenance of UHV transformer. Zhejiang Electric Power Company initiated the study based on the vibration analysis method of live detection and diagnosis technology, capable of real-time control of UHV transformers operating conditions, and timely detection of UHV transformers abnormalities, faults and warnings and early warning of transformer emergencies.

According to the plan, by the end of 2015, Zhejiang will add 18 million kVA of UHV substation capacity and 15 million kilowatts of commutation capacity, with 1170 km of new UHV AC lines and 462 km of DC lines in the country.
