On January 2, a reporter learned from the Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group in Shanxi that the first batch of two ultra-large coal pressurized gasifiers—key equipment for the "coal-to-oil" major scientific and technological project—has been successfully completed. These gasifiers are currently the largest fixed-bed pressure gasifiers in Asia, marking a significant milestone in China's coal chemical industry.
The two pulverized coal pressurized gasifiers, manufactured by Taizhong Company, are essential components of the national "863" high-tech project. They are designed for an annual synthetic oil production capacity of 160,000 tons at the Shanxi Luan Coal-Based Synthetic Oil Co., Ltd. Featuring a rational product structure, advanced and reliable technology, high gasification efficiency, and strong gasification intensity, these gasifiers serve as the primary source of raw gas for the synthetic oil process.
Taizhong Company, part of the Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group, is the first enterprise in China to produce coal gasifiers and other coal chemical equipment. The pulverized coal pressurized gasifier is a critical component of the most widely used coal gasification technology in the industry. It operates by using finely ground coal under pressure to generate synthetic raw gas, which is used in various applications such as fertilizer production, chemical manufacturing, synthetic oil, city gas, and power generation.
The heavy coal gasification pressurized gasifier developed by Taizhong Group has pushed its core gasification technology to world-class standards. The manufacturing of such gasifiers involves high technical complexity, and the waste heat boiler system supporting it is also produced for the first time. Each gasifier can process nearly 500 tons of coal per day, producing between 35,000 and 55,000 cubic meters of gas per hour. It features a fully integrated internal system, lubrication, automatic control, and transmission systems, making it the only company in China capable of producing complete sets of pulverized coal pressurized gasifiers.
The successful production of these two key pieces of equipment has provided strong support for the realization of the "coal-to-oil" transformation. In addition to pressurized gasifiers, Taizhong is actively developing new technologies such as coal-to-methanol and coal-to-olefin, further expanding its role in the future of clean energy and chemical production.
