According to statistics, although the nation’s auto and auto parts exports maintained rapid growth in 2003, the total export volume was only US$4.71 billion, accounting for only 0.4% of the US$1.2 trillion in the world’s auto and parts and components market. In order to change this situation, the country vigorously develops products with high technological content and large added value, expands the scale, improves the grades, and actively promotes the export of automobiles and parts and components. Among them, supporting the development of autos and parts companies to become bigger and stronger, and accelerating the construction of auto and auto parts export bases is the focus of recent development. The relevant authorities of the country have determined that, through several years of efforts, on the basis of the current situation, 5 to 10 large-scale export bases for automobiles and auto parts will be established throughout the country.
