SKF “Expert System” helps reduce bearing failures

Recently, SKF has successfully developed an “expert system” to analyze the causes of bearing failures to help customers avoid repetitive bearing failures. Although the system is not the first in the field of bearings, it does make up for the shortcomings of previous bearing fault detection systems.

Previous systems were often decision-making graph structures, and the causes of bearing failures were speculated by symptoms. The system works in another way – from the cause of the bearing failure to the symptoms.

The core of the system is a range of relevant expertise from the basic principles of rolling bearings to practical engineering and application results. It has four categories, namely:

1. Conditions (speed, bearing type, load, temperature, etc.)

2. Intrinsic mechanical devices (such as sliding contacts and damage to the lubricating film)

3. Failure modes (including fatigue cracks and frictional corrosion of surface initiation)

4. Symptoms (such as raw embroidery, spallation, and fading)

The SKF expert system links the data to the basic data of the database by using customer-supplied data for probabilistic analysis. The system summarizes the causes of a series of bearing failures, arranged by probability.

Fire trucks, also known as fire fighting trucks, refer to vehicles designed and manufactured to be suitable for firefighters to use, equipped with various types of firefighting equipment or extinguishing agents, and used by firefighters for fire fighting, auxiliary fire fighting or fire rescue. Most national fire departments in China will also use it for other emergency rescue purposes. Fire trucks can transport firefighters to the disaster site and provide them with a variety of tools for disaster relief tasks.
Modern fire trucks are usually equipped with steel ladders, water guns, portable fire extinguishers, self-contained breathing apparatus, protective clothing, dismantling tools, first aid tools and other equipment, and some of them are equipped with large fire-extinguishing equipment such as water tanks, water pumps, and foam fire extinguishing devices. The appearance of fire trucks in most areas is red, but in some areas, the appearance of fire trucks is yellow, as are some special fire trucks. The top of the Fire Truck is usually equipped with alarm sirens, warning lights and strobe lights. Common types of fire trucks include water tank fire trucks, foam fire trucks, dry powder fire trucks, remote water supply fire trucks, elevating fire trucks, and ladder climbing fire trucks.
