Cargotec's MacGregor has received a contract from Damen Shipbuilding in the Netherlands to design and deliver the core components of the roll-on entry equipment for two Canadian 80-meter-long ice-class RoPax ferries. The first ferry is expected to be delivered in 2015 and the second ferry is expected to be delivered in 2016.
Each ferry will be equipped with a MacGregor bow, a bow ramp, a stern ramp, a shell door and a liftable deck system. The two ferries are designed to operate in harsh ice conditions and can transport 200 passengers and 60 motor vehicles. MacGregor's roll-on specialists helped designers implant cargo entry equipment during the design phase.
