Wang Jian: China's energy-saving and new energy buses have operational difficulties

On July 18, the China International New Energy Vehicle Summit was held in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang. At the meeting, Wang Jian, a professor at Chongqing Jiaotong University, described the development difficulties of energy-saving and new energy buses.

Whether pure electric is really worthwhile pure electric has always been the main strategic direction for the development of new energy vehicles and the transformation of the automobile industry. However, due to factors such as battery technology, supporting construction, and car purchase costs, pure electric buses have not been widely available.

In order to attract users to purchase and use energy costs, it is widely mentioned as a major advantage in the promotion of pure electric buses. However, is the use of electric energy for pure electric buses really more economical than fuel costs?

Wang Jian pointed out that when the media reported on the advantages of pure electric bus operations, they always mentioned that the electricity price was cheap, but they ignored the “cheap electricity price” is the low peak electricity price and household electricity price. It is easy to mislead the public. From the actual situation, the electricity used in the charging of pure electric passenger cars belongs to commercial electricity, and the electricity price should be calculated according to the price of commercial electricity. Under such circumstances, the use of pure electric buses will be more cost-effective only when the oil price is high. Moreover, the pure electric bus consumes a lot of energy during charging, and therefore waste of electrical energy is also more serious.

In addition, in terms of battery technology, China has not yet made a revolutionary breakthrough, far from commercialization. Therefore, in his opinion, the large-scale application of pure electric buses is still far away.

Whether hybrid energy is really energy-saving When it comes to hybrid buses, Wang Jian said that even if there are no national incentives, hybrid buses in China currently have the conditions for large-scale commercial applications. However, there are still some problems, such as the fuel economy efficiency of hybrid buses theoretically up to 20% -30%, while most of the actual operation can only reach 5%, and there are also some known as "hybrid" passenger cars, due to The technology is not closed, but it is no different from the internal combustion engine.

Wang Jian, a domestic pure electric bus, believes that the reason for this is the problem of the technical route of hybrid buses in China. "China's hybrid buses are simply following the technical route of passenger cars. They simply think that assembling batteries, driving motors, and controlling these components is a hybrid bus. This misleads the technical route of hybrid buses in China and thinks that The battery is moved to the passenger car is the new energy bus. "At present, China's hybrid bus is mainly in the internal combustion engine unit after the power generation, the electrical power through the motor drive to the drive device. In this transmission process, energy consumption inevitably occurs. Therefore, this transmission process is also an energy waste process.

Wang Jian believes that the most important core technology of hybrid buses is the ability to change motors. After the motor can be transformed into electricity, it can directly act on the wheels to reduce unnecessary energy consumption and improve energy efficiency. "This is the technical route that buses should take."

More Choices More Developments Regarding the “Energy Conservation and New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Plan (2012-2020)” (hereinafter referred to as “Planning”) that has just been promulgated, Wang Jian expressed great misunderstanding. He believes that such national-level policies as "Planning" should be able to reflect the basic understanding of science and technology, but "Planning" does not show the corresponding level. "In the "planning", the state should not limit the technical line of support, because the technical route and technical plan can be changed and breakthrough."

For example, trolley buses, which are driven by electricity as the purely electric buses, were ignored in the "planning." Wang Jian believes that trolley buses are the best alternative to pure electric buses. “Pure electric buses must first be charged to the battery and then transmitted to the drive system. In the process, it will cause great waste. The trolley bus does not need it. It directly transmits the power to the drive system, avoiding waste. The technology of the trolleybus is mature and the requirements are not high, and the requirements for energy saving and environmental protection can also be met. At present, the trolleybuses have operations in Beijing and Shanghai, with obvious results.”

For its traffic management department that "in the course of the operation of the trolleybus, the wire is easy to slip down and cause traffic jams" and "the erection of the power grid is visual pollution," Wang Jian retorted that the technology of the trolleybus is mature and can completely avoid traffic congestion. Beijing Bus has solved these problems.

In addition, natural gas passenger cars have attracted more and more attention as the country attaches importance to the development plan of shale gas (natural gas extracted from the shale layer). According to Wang Jian, at present, the price of natural gas is one-third lower than that of oil. If shale gas is mined on a large scale, the price of natural gas will be even lower. Natural gas buses will be very attractive to users. Moreover, from an environmental point of view, natural gas can more easily reach the Euro IV and Euro 5 emission standards than oil. “But natural gas vehicles also have one drawback: they are more PM2.5 particles than diesel vehicles that have reached Euro IV or Euro 5”.

“The country’s policy should only be to establish a goal and encourage everyone to achieve this goal through various methods. Whoever achieves this goal supports who.” Wang Jian said finally.

Mechanical Parts

Mechanical Parts is a un-craftable multi-purpose part that can be used for crafting various items. Mechanical Parts can be found by left-clicking with a Wrench on Air Conditioners, Gas Stations, Office Chairs, File Cabinets, Reinforced Drawbridges, Shopping Carts, Gas Pumps, Ovens, Sedans, Safes, and Metal Doors.

Machine elements are basic mechanical parts and features used as the building blocks of most machines. Most are standardized to common sizes, but customs are also common for specialized applications.
