Recently, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce, Beijing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, and Beijing Automobile Group Co., Ltd. jointly signed the Memorandum on the Construction of Export Vehicle Quality and Safety Demonstration Zone (hereinafter referred to as the “Work Memorandumâ€). This marks the official launch of China's first national-level "export vehicle product quality and safety demonstration zone" construction work.
In recent years, the automobile enterprises in Beijing have achieved leap-forward development, and gradually formed an industrial cluster area where automobile production enterprises are relatively concentrated, and has become one of the leading industries for revitalizing Beijing's modern manufacturing industry.
With the rapid development of the Beijing auto industry, Beijing auto products exports have entered a new historical stage. During the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan†period, Beijing has exported 170,000 vehicles, and the total export value of complete vehicles and parts has reached approximately US$6.26 billion. The export volume has increased year by year and has formed a certain industrial scale. In 2011, Beijing's auto and parts exports reached US$1.46 billion, up 9.7% year-on-year.
The construction of the "Export Automotive Product Quality and Safety Demonstration Zone" jointly promoted by the government and enterprises in Beijing is aimed at building a "government to promote guidance, corporate responsibility, inspection and quarantine supervision, departmental joint management, industry organization self-discipline" On the basis of this, it will be the national leading area for industrial development, and will be transformed into a model area for quality and safety, an advanced area for service regional economic development, and an experimental area for innovation in inspection and quarantine system, thereby promoting the optimization of enterprises in the demonstration area to scale, high-end and brand. Upgrade to further enhance the international influence and core competitiveness of “Beijing Creation†and “Beijing Serviceâ€.
According to reports, on the basis of the initial investigation, the construction of the demonstration area has already formulated the “Building Plan for the Quality and Safety Demonstration Zone of Exported Automobile Products in Beijingâ€.
It is expected that by the end of August this year, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce will coordinate the relevant departments to formally submit an application for acceptance of the demonstration zone to the AQSIQ. The demonstration zone will be listed for certification in October.
