The completion and commissioning of this key device has not only achieved the export of raw materials chlorine and caustic soda to MDI (diphenylmethane diisocyanate), TDI (toluene diisocyanate) and PC (polycarbonate) devices of multinational investment companies such as Bayer and BASF. At the same time, it also recycles hydrogen chloride, a byproduct produced by downstream companies, and uses upstream ethylene feedstock to produce dichloroethane. The close connection with the product chain of the multinational companies in the chemical industry zone and the successful practice of “a chlorine gas and three times working†symbolize that the development level of the circular economy in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone has reached a new level.
Huasheng Phase III construction project was launched at the end of 2010, with a total investment of 850 million yuan. It has a number of large-scale chemical plants with an annual output of 160,000 tons of liquid chlorine, 180,000 tons of caustic soda, and 360,000 tons of dichloroethane. The project digested and absorbed foreign advanced technology. From the initial planning to the detailed design, it was completed by the Chinese side. For the first time, a more advanced membrane pitch technology was applied, and all key equipment was first made locally.
With the completion of the Huasheng III project, Shanghai Chlor-Alkali's direct investment in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park has exceeded 3.25 billion yuan, the production capacity of caustic soda reached 720,000 tons, the production capacity of liquid chlorine was 640,000 tons, and the production capacity of dichloroethane was 720,000 tons. Shanghai Chlor-alkali Company is the only supplier of chlorine resources in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone. The output of chlorine has been used for three times, which can drive the production value of the upstream and downstream product chains in the park to more than RMB 20 billion each year, making it a veritable circular economy model. .
The completion of the Shanghai Chlor-Alkali Huasheng Phase III plant not only enhanced the company's production scale, further improved the profitability model for sustainable development, but also strengthened its position as the only supplier of chlorine resources in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone. The economic industry chain provides a stable operation guarantee for multiple channels and will continue to lead the continuous optimization of the circular economy operation mode in the chemical industry zone.
