1. General Introduction
The ISO17357:2014 certified floating pneumatic rubber fender is a shock absorption device used in marine applications worldwide. It is constructed from synthetic-cord-reinforced rubber sheets filled with compressed air, allowing it to float on the sea surface and effectively absorb impact during ship-to-ship transfers, as well as ship-to-dock berthing and mooring operations.

2. Construction Features
The basic structure of the floating pneumatic rubber fender consists of outer rubber layers, synthetic tire cord layers, and inner layers. These components are vulcanized together and then inflated with compressed air to enable the fender to float on the water surface. For reference, please see the image below.

4. Pressure Requirements of Yokohama Pneumatic Rubber Fenders
Evergreen-Maritime produces marine rubber fenders with initial pressures of 50kPa (pneumatic 50) and 80kPa (pneumatic 80). The internal pressure, endurance pressure, safety valve setting pressure, and hydraulic test pressure all meet the requirements of ISO17357:2002. Fenders with a diameter of 2500mm or larger are equipped with a safety valve to release excess internal pressure if accidentally over-compressed.
